Doing time in the South Island

I'm innocent, honest (alright maybe the 'mo was a bad idea)

Yeah, once again we've been slack at updating so in response to a nudge from Steve "Super Hoops" Mumford, I'm adding an update from our trip to the South Island in November last year.

Lisa arranged the trip as a surprise for my birthday, we flew down to Christchurch on the Friday and spent a night at the Jailhouse in Addington - definitely a different type of homestay.

The next morning it was up early to catch the TranzAlpine railway that goes from Christchurch in the East to Greymouth in the West, traversing the Alps as it goes. With gorse in full bloom and the spring sun shining (at least before we got to the Western side), the journey was magical.Onwards and upwards towards Arthurs Pass

These shots are taken from the open observation car at the rear of the train a great way to get shots and with 19 tunnels on the trip it can get bloody smoky in there at times.
